$1 Diet Day 18 Supper

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Tonight I fell off the spaghetti wagon and indulged in a large plate of spaghetti.  Since I skipped breakfast today, I treated myself to an extra ounce.

Totals-

  • $1.01 available
  • -$0.25 for 5 ounces of spaghetti
  • -$0.05 for .5 ounces of butter
  • __________________________
  • $0.76 available for tomorrow

I made an important decision today regarding the diet.  Starting tomorrow, I will no longer charge myself for free food I acquire.  There are just too many options, and too much boredom to keep fighting against the inevitable.  So from now on, I will freely graze at supermarket sample counters.  I will accept food from anyone offering.  I will forage through dumpsters of there is an eclair ‘hovering’ over the top.  I will steal from coworkers when they are not looking.  I will eat roadkill if it looks fresh.  Basically, anything that is free, I will eat for free.

$1 Diet Day 3 Supper

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Ok, I came to a few realiziations today.  After turning down both a ham and cheese stromboli (those of you who know me know that that was not much of a challenge) and a bag ‘Coal’ (which is dark chocolate covered popcorn), I started thinking about Easter.  It brought me to the realization that there are going to be times this month where declining free food will be impossible.  So I decided in circumstances where I am scheduled to eat a meal as a guest, at no cost to me, then I will charge myself the cost of the previous meal I ate.  I can think of no other way to compute it.

All that being said, I kind of broke the bank tonight.  We had guests over, and my wife made lasagna.  I cannot compute the exact cost due to not being involved in the production, but based on my best estimates, I consumed a little over $1 for supper.  To account for the possibility of miscalculation, I will round up to $1.50.  This will serve as punishment as well for my lapse of self control.

So, considering I had $0.33 available for this meal, I will have to make up $1.17.  I do not think this is insurmountable now that I have discovered the cheaper food at Walmart.
